I have been there!!! Try Nutragena T-Gel shampoo on the red patches... Walgreen's has a generic equivalent for half the cost... I had the same problem when I was in college from exactly the same thing - high iron content in the red clay. I have not sculpted in years, since I have no talent at it - I am better with wood... I have built 6 guitars and a lot of furniture. Anyway, try the shampoo on the patches - lather full-strength and let it sit for a minute or two to soak in and then rinse, do it every 4-6 hours - and I guarantee they will clear up in 24 hours or LESS!
